It involves laparoscopic surgery to surgically trim the stomach so that it takes on the shape of a tube, thereby reducing its nutrient absorption capacity and causing weight loss in the individual.

Laparoscopic creation of a fold or sleeve in the stomach to reduce its nutrient absorption capacity and promote weight loss in the individual.
